  1. You can use just about any combination of ingredients to produce your own scented oils. Of course they won't be as good as what you can purchase, but you might be the type to want to give it a try. The process that we will use is simple. Gather the ingredients that you want to use; plants, bark, lemon peelings, etc., and pack them tightly in the jar that you will use. Add an unscented oil to the mixture. I highly recommend that you use one of our unscented essential oils for this, especially if you will wear the oil. Store the mixture in a place that is warm for about 10 days. Shake it vigorously each day and check out the scent of the mixture after the allotted time has passed.

Once you are satisfied with the amount of scent that the mixture contains you can begin to use it. Do not heat the mixture because you will destroy the integrity of the fragrance. Keep a record of what you use each time so that when you come across the perfect blend you will know how to duplicate it. The heat will slowly leech fragrance from the mixture over a period of time. If you can grind your ingredients do so before you put them in the oil. This will expose more of the fragrant matter to the oil. Sometimes grinding the ingredients will destroy the integrity of the fragrance.
