  1. When men choose to wear cologne the intention is probably to attract the attention of women. One good way to asses the effects of your cologne is to listen to the compliments that you get from women. Women tend to be vocal about the things which appeal to them in a fragrance if they like it. A woman will generally tell you if she likes what you are wearing and the man who is smart will  listen and apply what he learns. If she vocalizes what she is feeling then you can believe that there is an attraction.  Women tend to display positive cues more readily than men so if you can read them you can respond to them to establish a better relationship. The first impression that your cologne makes will either be all right or all wrong so you have to be very careful about the fragrance that you use. If your fragrance turns her on it will provide a sure foundation for you to build on.

Women are more sensitive to fragrance than men. Women typically see fragrance as part of who you are more than men. Most men will only wear fragrance on special occasions while women tend to wear it every day. How many men in your workplace wear fragrance to work? I will guess that there are probably none. Society will look at a man strangely who wears fragrance all of the time but a woman is expected to use perfume daily. You only need enough fragrance to make her want to get closer to you to get a better smell.  When you overdo it you send a signal that you are insecure and women prefer men who are conficent and sure about themselves. Synthetic scents are typically sweet while natural fragrances have more of a subtil effect. Coconut seems to work best for me. Sometimes you need to step outside of your personal comfort zone when you choose fragrances. One thing that I like to do is to solicit the opinion of the opposite sex when I am testing a fragrance. Others can always tell how a scent agrees with you better than you can. Women tend to like a more masculine fragrance on men. There are many which fall into this category. I have seen mens fragrances which are sweet but were effective because they always have that masculine undertone.

Unisex fragrances are fine but the biggest thing to look for when you choose a unisex fragrance is that it matches your body chemistry. Since unisex fragrances are designed for both men and women so they may be too sweet smelling to be masculine on you, but on the other hand this may work out to your advantage from time to time. You can mix your favorite scent with an unscented lotion to get a light scent that is alluring to women.

Observe the strength of the fragrance at various time intervals after you have applied it. You may have to add a little bit every couple of hours to freshen it up. This depends on which fragrance note comes across best for you.  When you are going to be around that someone that you want to impress apply the scent at the right time so that you will get the desired effect. Remember which note smells best on you and time tour reapplication accordingly. The second note generally lasts from two to four hours and the third note lasts for four to six hours. Also add several different scents to your repertoire so that you can change them as the situation dictates.
