Potpourri oils are used in a variety of ways to freshen up the home or environment. They are often used when company arrives to set a tone for the event. While there is a large variety of oils you can use, cinnamon is ideal for a sweet, spicy scent and is used most during the during the fall and winter seasons. The cinnamon oil that we produce is excellent and my favorite fragrance is the French Cinnamon. I believe that if you try it you will also be enchanted by the wonderful aroma.
I like to mix cimnnamon potpourri oil with sweet apple, but you can mix it with just about any other fragrance which has a sweet aroma.
You can make this fragrance if you have some time and want to try your hand at the process, but if you want a little to use around the house from time to time you can order it from our web site. The advantage to ordering it is convenience. You will receive the finished product much faster than you would if you attempt to make it. If you choose to make it yourself you will gain the knowledge and experience inherent in completing the process.
The best way to make this fragrance at home is to purchase a quantity of cinnamon sticks. You can crush them and place them in an airtight jar. You then need to use unscented oil in order to leech the fragrance out of the cinnamon sticks. The potency of your scented product will depend on how much of the fragrance is leeched out of the cinnamon sticks.
You can store the mixture in a warm place to help with the process or you can store it in a cool dry place. Take the mixture out each day and shake it vigorously. Leave it for several weeks before you take it out and sample it for fragrance. Once you have gotten the fragrance to leech out into your oil you can use the oil to freshen your house.
Use a clean cloth to separate the cinnamon sticks from the scented oil by draining the mixture through the cloth. You can squeeze out the last drops of the oil once you have finished.
The most common way to use the fragrance is to burn it in a potpourri burner or simmering pot. You can even place a little of this mixture in a regular pot and simmer it on your stove.
Some of my customers will place the oil only in the container and burn it. I prefer to mix my oil with water because I believe that the steam which is produced serves to carry the scent of the cinnamon oil out farther into the atmosphere. The steam is not quite as strong as tha straight oil mixture but it expands well.

Use this scented mixture when you have guests in order to create a holiday atmosphere. A festive atmosphere will add to the mood of the occasion by making your guests feel at ease. It will certainly make the time that you spend together more enjoyable, and will certainly put your guests in a good holiday mood.
